The International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) today announced the retirement of its Chief Executive Officer, Doug Hucker, effective 22 April 2026.
Mr. Hucker concludes a distinguished tenure of almost four years as CEO of ICA, during which he provided steady and strategic leadership through the post-COVID recovery period and ongoing global market challenges. His tenure has been marked by a strong focus on financial discipline, successful delivery of key industry congresses and events, and meaningful growth and improved engagement with ICA’s global membership.
A prominent and highly respected figure in the global gem and jewellery industry, Mr. Hucker has built a career spanning several decades, defined by strong leadership and a deep commitment to advancing the colored gemstone sector.
“Doug has made a significant contribution to ICA during a pivotal time for our industry,” said ICA President Damien Cody. “His experience, professionalism and commitment have helped strengthen the Association and position it well for the future. We are deeply grateful for his leadership and service.”
Prior to joining ICA, Mr. Hucker served as Chief Executive Officer of the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) for approximately 24 years. Earlier in his career, he also held positions with the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).
Reflecting on his departure, Mr. Hucker said, “It has been a privilege to serve the ICA and its members. I am proud of what we have accomplished together during a period of significant change. These achievements reflect the collective effort of a committed Board, dedicated members, and a passionate global community. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside such talented and driven individuals. I am confident the Association will continue to grow and thrive in the years ahead.” Mr. Hucker added that he is now looking forward to a well-earned retirement.
The ICA hopes to announce details relating to new leadership in the near future.
