The British Allied Trades Federation (BATF) has announced the appointment of John Henn as its new President, following his election at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting held at Warwick Castle earlier this month.
John Henn, Managing Director of jewellery retailer T A Henn, brings a wealth of experience and sector insight to the role. Having served on the BATF Board since 2014, he is an active member of both the National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) and the Institute of Registered Valuers (IRV), and represents the UK internationally through the NAJ’s membership of CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation.
John succeeds Gert Schyberg, who steps down after completing a successful two-year term as President. During this time, Gert has provided strong leadership across the federation, supporting collaboration and progress between member associations.
Commenting on his appointment, John Henn said,
“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Gert Schyberg for his leadership over the past two years and the significant progress achieved under his presidency. I am honoured to take on this role and look forward to building on the excellent work already underway, strengthening communication between the associations and ensuring the BATF continues to support collaborative initiatives that allow members to benefit from each other’s specialisms.”
The BATF comprises three leading trade associations: the National Association of Jewellers, the Giftware Association, and the Surface Engineering Association. The BATF works to unite, support, and empower their respective sectors through advocacy, shared resources, and professional development, ensuring sustainable success for British businesses.
John’s appointment further strengthens the NAJ’s presence within the federation. Gary Wroe and Heather Callaway, both former Chairs of the NAJ, were re-elected to the board, and they were joined by newly appointed board member Helen Dimmick, Director of the award-winning Ainsworth Jewellers, who enhances representation for the jewellery sector.
On joining the BATF Board, Helen Dimmick said,
“I’m pleased to represent the NAJ on the BATF Board, helping to ensure the needs of member associations remain at the heart of decision-making while promoting collaboration, shared values and strong standards across the federation.”
With a strong and experienced Board in place, BATF is well-positioned to continue its mission of driving collaboration and delivering value for its member associations and the wider industries they represent.
