The National Diamond Trading Company of Angola, SODIAM E.P., auctioned 35 special rough diamonds produced by the mining companies LUELE, CATOCA, MUSSENDE, LULO, CALONDA, CUILO KWENDA, KAIXEPA, CUANGO, SOMILUANA, MUCUANZA, as well as one Run-of-Mine lot.
The viewing sessions took place from 22 to 25 June at SODIAM E.P.’s premises in Luanda, while bids were submitted electronically through the online platform www.transatlanticgemsales.com until 10:00 a.m. today, 26 June 2026. The auction generated total net proceeds of USD 21.7 million from the sale of 6,586.89 carats. Overall, the outcome was encouraging and exceeded the expected value by 23.46%.
Twenty-seven companies, out of thirty-four invited, participated in the auction, representing the world’s leading diamond trading centers and marketplaces. It should be noted that, in compliance with Presidential Decree No. 175/18 of 27 July, the current auction model has continued to earn increasing confidence from both mining companies and buyers, owing to the transparency and integrity of the process.
According to SODIAM’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Eugénio Bravo da Rosa, “the auction achieved an overall positive result, despite the current conditions in the international diamond market, which continue to be characterized primarily by weak demand and the consequent decline in prices.”
The Chairman further noted that the participating mining companies expressed satisfaction with the prices obtained, reflecting the strong interest shown by international buyers and the recognition of the quality of the production offered at auction. He added that this performance reinforces the confidence of mining companies in the auction-based diamond marketing model, even in a challenging international environment.
