WFDB launches a campaign to aid India in 2nd Covid wave. The World Federation of Diamond Bourse (WFDB) has launched a campaign to aid India in the devastating second wave of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. India’s iconic Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) joined hands with WFDB in these challenging hours.
The BDB is scheduled to garner support and help to procure Medicines and Health-related accessories. The WFDB has initiated a campaign is scheduled to reach out to the world of diamantaires called “www.campaign.wfdb.com”. The website lists the very essence of the campaign that has been initiated to support India to procure vital medicines and health equipment required to fight the deadly pandemic faced by India and help tide over the situation at the earliest. An appeal made to over 20000 members by WFDB is seeing success as donations are pouring in to aid India in this crucial time. Reeling under the catastrophic impact of the second wave of Covid – 19, India has reached out to the international community for support in terms of medicines and healthcare equipment. The surge in cases and death rates has gained global attention as many international organizations, multinational corporations and associations including NGO’s are pledging help and support to India in time of distress by supplying medicines, oxygen concentrators and other important health equipment critical to saving lives during this anxious juncture.
To promote the campaign and appeal to the global fraternity on the excellent initiative by WFDB and BDB, a webinar was organized by Prernaa Makhariaa, Social Media Influencer, jewellery blogger and a ‘Young Diamantaire Club’ member inviting Yoram Dvash, President WFDB, Anoop Mehta, President BDB, and Rami Baron, Founder, Young Diamantaires Club.
The webinar threw light on the initiative of the WFDB ‘India Aid’ campaign and the logical conclusion that will be reached to cross over the second wave due to the partnership between BDB and WFDB. On quizzing about the initiative Yoram Dvash opined, “ India has always played a pivotal role in the Diamond supply chain and has been in the forefront in supporting global causes and it is now time for WFDB and world diamond members to rise to the situation and help India tide over by aiding procurement of vital medicines and health equipment”.
On this Anoop Mehta responded by thanking WFDB and said “At this juncture, India needs medicines and other health accessories that can go a long way in saving lives. we thank WFDB for having taken this important step to help India tide over the crisis and added that Mumbai and Surat are the backbones for a robust Diamond pipeline and both the Diamond cities are trying their best to keep up the supply even during this critical situation”.
Rami baron too emphasized the brotherly relationship that Australia shares with India especially in the Diamond business and pledged all help from WFDB as well as Young Diamantaires Club for India and BDB to come out of the Red.
The Funds raised through this campaign will be diverted to procure medicines and health equipment and WFDB has already initiated dialogues with Chinese counterparts to dispatch the said material. Once the shipment reaches Mumbai BDB would facilitate delivery of the said health materials to earmarked hospitals and Covid centres. The said medicines and health equipment would also be sent to a prominent NGO operating for the last two decades, Gem & Jewellery National Relief Foundation to enable further distribution to the needy.
The webinar ended with Prernaa Makhariaa thanking the speakers and reiterating the fact that India would be thankful to WFDB and BDB for the timely initiative that will be remembered long for having saved the lives of innocent people. She also thanked Ms Sharon Geffen Head PR for WFDB, Harsh Shah and Jay Parikh for their contribution in making the webinar and “www.campaign.wfdb.com” a
