Gem Pavilion News, Photo, Video and Current Affairs

Hong Kong becomes the centre of the jewellery world this week as JGW September inaugurated, bringing together the industry’s most influential buyers and suppliers for seven days of serious business. Organised by Informa Markets, the world’s No.1 B2B jewellery sourcing destination features around 3,000 exhibitors from 46 countries and regions, each showcasing collections set to define retail trends worldwide. Open until Sunday, 20 September, the marketplace offers six specialised shows where buyers do not only restock but also discover what’s next. Running through 18 September at AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE), three co-located fairs spotlight precious materials: Gemstones (Halls 3, 6, 8 & 10), Diamonds & Fine Gems (Halls 5, 7 & 9) and Pearls+ (Halls 9 & 11). Within these halls are several standout zones. The Diamond Pavilion − one of the largest globally − presents the full range of the industry, from fancy colour diamonds to flawless stones in exceptional cuts. The Fine Gem Pavilion (FGP) is a magnet for buyers seeking coveted gemstones favoured by heritage brands, designers and collectors. The Gemstone Pavilion brings together a high concentration of loose gemstone suppliers under one roof, offering precious materials in virtually every colour, cut, quality and price point. Buyers will also discover the Pearl Pavilion, home to internationally recognised suppliers of Akoya, South Sea, Tahitian and freshwater pearls, alongside dealers specialising in rare ocean-born gems such as conch and melo pearls. From 16 – 20 September, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) presents three shows centred on finished jewellery, packaging solutions, tools, equipment and jewellery technology: Hong Kong (Hall 1), International (Halls 3 & 5) and Fine Design (Grand Hall), which showcases jewellery creations set with rare and investment-grade gems. Must-see destinations at HKCEC include the CORE Pavilion, celebrating the finest of Hong Kong’s jewellery and gemstone sector, and the Premier Pavilion, where the latest luxury jewellery trends and styles take centre stage. Other notable areas are the Fei Cui Gallery, Antique & Vintage Jewellery, Designer Arena and International Fine Jewellery, among others. Trade association-led pavilions, along with themed and country & regional sections, organise exhibits by product type and origin − making it simple for buyers to navigate the show floor and pinpoint exactly what they need. The two venues showcase the complete supply chain − from raw materials to retail-ready pieces. Elevating the buyer experience, Informa’s Exhibitor Finder brings AI-powered intelligence to the visitor journey. This tool enables attendees to find the right exhibitors in seconds, build personalised lists and export them for easy reference during the show. By previewing exhibitor details and products in advance, buyers can maximise the value of every conversation. Where business meets inspiration JGW September combines the energy of the show floor with a content programme designed to sharpen competitive edge and celebrate industry excellence. “What gets me every year – and this one’s no exception – is the sheer quality of what exhibitors bring,” said Celine Lau, Director of Jewellery Fairs at Informa Markets. “Loose materials, finished jewellery, the latest tech, packaging solutions – it’s all here and it’s all world-class. But here’s the thing: Jewellery is built on craft and creativity. That mix of hard business and real passion? It’s rare. And when you see the artistry behind what’s being created, you understand why JGW has always been something more than a trade show.” Beyond the exhibits, JGW September delivers insights that drive smarter decisions. The NextGen Coloured Gem Excellence Awards by JWA (Jewellery World Awards) spotlights the rising talent representing the industry’s future. At the GEM+ Conference, leading voices from the coloured gemstone sector dissect the rise of social commerce while bringing together today’s industry leaders − those with the energy, passion and innovative thinking needed to inspire tomorrow’s generation and drive positive impact across the trade. Expert-led sessions throughout the fair cover jewellery design, industry collaboration, pearl heritage and sustainability, Fei Cui (jadeite), precious coral, diamonds and precious metals − giving buyers the intelligence they need to stay ahead. Allen Xiang, General Manager for Jewellery at Informa Markets, believes the real value of a trade show often comes from the unexpected. “You travel to the fair to see products and do business, but often the most valuable takeaway is a conversation you didn’t plan to have. With so much affecting our industry − economic shifts, evolving consumer tastes, supply chain disruptions − sometimes it’s that chance encounter with a supplier, designer or fellow buyer that gives you the insider perspective you need,” Xiang said. “JGW September creates thousands of these moments. You can’t engineer them, but you can show up where they are most likely to happen.” That is the power of scale and timing working together. Held twice annually − JGW June and JGW September − JGW draws nearly 100,000 buyers from over 140 countries and regions each year. Each event serves a distinct purpose in the buying calendar. June offers a mid-year replenishment window: The moment to refresh inventory, respond to immediate demand and position ahead of Q4’s peak trading period. September is where the industry looks forward − sourcing for the critical holiday season, spotting emerging trends and discovering the innovations that will shape the year ahead. Intelligence that drives decisions Beyond the booths and displays, JGW September delivers the market intelligence that shapes successful sourcing strategies. Central to this year’s programme is GEM+ on 17 September at the HKCEC, convening key stakeholders from across the coloured gemstone sector. This networking event explores critical trends including social commerce acceleration, Gen Z luxury consumption patterns, leadership succession and sustainability imperatives. Panellists include recipients of the NextGen Coloured Gem Excellence Awards by JWA. GEM+ is supported by Principal Partners ICA GemLab and Wilds Company Limited. A special exhibit on Hall 3DE Concourse (opposite booth 3M210) showcases winning designs from the Gender-Fluid Coloured Gem Jewellery Design Challenge. The competition featured two categories: the Student Track, focused on Asia, and the Professional Track, comprising entries from Taotian Group – Gold & Fashion Jewellery Industry’s design community. Winning student concepts are brought to life as finished jewellery pieces by Principal Sponsor EJI using gemstones from competition partner RMC Gems HK Co, and are displayed alongside creations from Professional Track winners. The International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) and Taotian Group – Gold & Fashion Jewellery Industry complete the roster of Design Challenge sponsors. Back by popular demand, Sublime Shine 2.0: Metal Innovations in the Art of Jewellery returns following the success of its 2025 debut. This year’s edition invites visitors to explore the artistry and technical mastery of metalsmithing through interactive displays and live demonstrations. The initiative is delivered in partnership with the World Gold Council (WGC) and Platinum Guild International (PGI). Sublime Shine is located at Booth 3M260 on Level 3 of the HKCEC. Throughout the week, The Stage at the HKCEC hosts expert-led seminars and sessions delivered by leading industry organisations, including the Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, China Limited; Hong Kong Gold & Silver Ornament Workers & Merchants General Union; Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association; International Fei Cui Jade Association; Japan Pearl Promotion Society; L’ECOLE Asia Pacific, School of Jewelry Arts; PGI; Shanghai International Jewelry and Style District & Shanghai Yuyuan (Group) Co Ltd, and Zhengzhou Research Institute, China University of Geosciences (Beijing). The programme also marks a milestone, with The New Jeweller celebrating its 20th anniversary at the fair. Rounding out the insights programme, the De Beers Group presents “Show & Tell” sessions at the Chancellor Room, Level 4 of the HKCEC from 16 − 19 September. Beyond fine jewellery For buyers seeking to diversify their sourcing, Asia’s Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Fair – SEASONS | Autumn runs alongside JGW in Hall 5BC of the HKCEC from 16 – 20 September. Recognised for championing the latest in fashion accessories, SEASONS | Autumn spotlights design-led innovation through signature features like MODE by SEASONS − powered by Fashion by Informa. Paired with JGW’s six specialist shows, buyers gain access to an exceptional range − from fine jewellery to on-trend accessories in a single, integrated experience.
