Lucara’s Exceptional Stone Tender Achieves Gross Revenue of US$ 32.48 Million.Eira Thomas CEO, Lucara Diamond Corp said the company was “pleased with the outcome of EST12”. Eira was referring to the company’s 12th Exceptional Stone Tender which concluded with gross revenue of US$ 32.48 Million.
The tender offered 10 single stone lots of a total weight of 1,453.06 carats. Diamond size was in the range of 472.37 to 40.4 carats. Two diamonds were over 300 carats among which one diamond of 327.48 carat sold for US$ 10.1 Million or US$ 30,900 per carat. The total sale achieved a per carat price of US$ 22,356 per carat.
All 10 lots were sold, each selling above US$ 1.0 Million of these four stones were each bought for a price above US$ 3 Million. The average price per carat, excluding the 472.37 carat top light brown diamond, was US$ 30,712/ct.
Eira Thomas added the lots were of diamond production in 2018 of which many were “recovered from the EM/PK(S) unit during February and April of this year.” He further noted, “The quality of Karowe’s large diamonds continues to attract the attention of the World’s foremost manufacturers and diamantaires with 29 companies attending the sale and 8 individual companies winning lots.”
The company has as of now, successfully sold 168 diamonds over of US$ 1 Million, and 10 single diamonds for a price over US$ 10 Million. The Exceptional Stone Tender clocked a price above US$ 22,356 per carat, continuing the production of large high quality diamonds sourced from the South Lobe of the AK06 kimberlite. For the diamonds from Karowe sold from the year-to-date period, the average price per carat stands at US$ 893.3/ct.
