It is with deep sadness that we share the news that Mr Matome Tsholetsa Malema, Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Development Company Botswana (MDCB) and a valued member of the De Beers Board, has passed away.
Mr Malema was appointed to the De Beers Board in 2023, bringing deep operational expertise which drew on the considerable experience he gained from various operational roles at Debswana, including as General Manager. He was also passionate about sustainability and, as a member of the De Beers Sustainability Committee, provided valuable guidance across a range of sustainability matters and projects.
Mr Malema will be remembered for his leadership and the depth of experience he brought to everything he did. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues.
