GIA’s Advanced Synthetic Diamond Seminars Begin In August.GIA is taking its Advanced Synthetic Diamond Seminars across the world in August. The seminars begin in Mumbai from August 20-21, continue to London between August 29-30. They come to GIA headquarters Carlsbad, California between October 10 – 11.
The dates are chosen basis major gem and jewelry events or tradeshows occurring in these cities. There is the GIA International Gemological Symposium in Carlsbad, California; Hong Kong Gem and Mineral Show; India International Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Show and the International Jewellery London trade show.
The seminar tutorials will impart in-depth information on the advanced diamond identification techniques, hands-on experience with current production synthetic diamonds and the latest detection technology. Seminars will be taught at city-centric GIA schools, by GIA research scientists and classroom instructors. The method will combine lectures and practical lab instructions – GIA’s latest instrumentation for differentiating natural diamonds from CVD and HPHT synthetic diamonds and diamond simulants.
Instruments include the GIA iD100™, GIA DiamondCheck™ and GIA UV Lamp with Viewing Cabinet. The GIA research scientists taking the seminar are qualified with expert knowledge of synthetic diamond as a material, its identification and gemological characteristics, and processes used by GIA’s laboratories to separate synthetic from natural diamonds.
The seminar is limited to 20 or fewer participants for a more concentrated approach. There are no pre-requisites to participate but gemological training or experience is recommended. Each location will have a specific cost and curriculum of the seminar. The discounted pricing is being offered to GIA Alumni who have completed a certificate course or diploma program.
